20 PARA TOUGHRA STAMP PLATE "RECONSTRUCTION" STUDY
By T. Cenk
SARIUCAK
Since the day I
stepped on stamp world I was fascinated by the first
issues (or Toughra) of the Ottoman stamps. I've been
reading articles, studies and books about Toughra
stamps since. It's not easy to find information
about these stamps since they are not very popular -
or common - in the stamp collecting world. So I did
a lot of searching around and found only some...
The word “Empire” in the title on the stamps
“Empire Ottoman”, reads as “Ampir” and this is the reason
these Ottoman stamps are called as “Ampir”. In my
opinion they should be called as “Crescent Stamps”.
These stamps
were issued because of the Universal Postal Union
has been established and accepted by the states in
those years. As per the regulation of the...
THE FIRST ISSUES of TURKEY, 1863SOME FURTHER NOTES,
SECRET MARKS
By G.T. TURNER
In
the third number of “The Record of the Philatelic

first postage stamps of Turkey that is those showing
the Toughra, despite being of the same design, are
really three separate issues. The 2 and 5 Kurus were
the first stamps to be printed, being lithographed
at the end of 1862, although they were not issued
until 1864. Both values were transferred to the
lithographic stone in horizontal rows, and all the
rows are upright, there being no tête-bêche rows in
this printing.
Toward the end of 1920s famous Turkish philatelist
Bondi Beraha noticed various small notes as he was
looking through the pages of the album which was
comprised of an old collection of stamps dated
between 1863-1892. These notes said that Toughra
stamps were designed and impressed by two men...
Duloz
Stamps of Ottoman Empire has been printed between
1865 and 1882. The patterns of the stamps were
prepared by a crafter called “Mr. Duloz”. Then
these stamps were called after the crafter’s name
“Duloz”
The
first stamps of Ottoman Empire (currently Republic
of Turkey) that has the Tughra design has been
printed or let’s say lithographed at the end of
1862. 2 & 5 para were the first stamps to be
printed. These values were not issued until 1864...
